Gamekeeper turned poacher, Simon has a detailed understanding of the UK and EU decision making processes and an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape that WSTA members have to negotiate.
If he were a drink, what would he be?
In Simon’s own words…. “if I were a drink I’d choose to be one that gets better with age while still being influenced by what’s going on today – so that would probably be something fortified, an aged Tawny Port or an aged Amontillado – can I have two?”

Simon heads up an accomplished policy, compliance and insights team who cover all the basis in terms of what the wine and spirit sector needs to know is happening, is coming round the corner and threats that might lay ahead. Crucially Simon and his team will have answers to the questions ‘what do we need to do?’ If you don’t know who in the team to contact try Simon in the first instance.
Simon also represents the UK industry in a number of EU and International meetings including Comite Vins, FIVS, OIV and the World Wine Trade Group.
Think of him as the WSTA’s very own Malcolm Tucker, fiercely loyal, a little volatile (particularly triggered by stupid policy decisions) and master of political spin.
