Tapping into the craft spirit movement, Murphy worked with Francis Ford Coppola to establish a super-premium line of craft spirits called Great Women Spirits, a collection that celebrates extraordinary women in history whose stories are largely untold. Murphy also spearheaded Francis Ford Coppola’s entrance into the cannabis space. Leveraging consumer insights from the wine industry and applying them to the cannabis industry, The Grower’s Series embraces appellation-specific sourcing and sustainable outdoor farming for cannabis curious consumers to discover, and rediscover, cannabis. The luxury lifestyle cannabis brand marks one of the first cannabis product launches rooted in a wine family.
Prior to joining The Family Coppola, Murphy led the innovation pipeline of new brands at Constellation Brands, worked on Johnnie Walker and Ketel One global teams with Diageo in the Netherlands, managed international brand development for Campari in Monaco, and championed marketing strategies for E&J Gallo in the U.S., Latin America, Benelux, France and Spain.
Henry Dimbleby is co-founder of Leon Restaurants, the not-for-profit Sustainable Restaurant Association, and the charity Chefs In Schools. He is currently the lead Non-Executive Director at the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs where he has been commissioned to create a National Food Strategy.
Henry started his career as a commis chef with Michelin-starred chef, Bruno Loubet, before joining The Daily Telegraph. From there he moved to Bain & Company, a management consultancy firm, where he met John Vincent. They spent a lot of time together on the road, travelling for work, where all they found to eat was delicious but life-destroying fried chicken or cold, neon-lit sandwiches. Infuriated by the difficulty of finding tasty, nutritious food on the run, they resolved to do something about it. And so Leon was born.
In 2012, he was asked by the government to produce a blueprint for improving school food and food education in Britain. Together with John Vincent, he produced the School Food Plan – one of the biggest shake-ups of school food for a generation. It has overseen, among other changes, the introduction of cookery lessons for all children up to the age of 14, universal free school meals for infants, and new standards for the food served to children in schools. In addition to writing a column for The Guardian he has appeared regularly on Radio 4’s Kitchen Cabinet & BBC’s Saturday Kitchen.
In November 2018, Michelle Brampton was appointed Managing Director, Europe at Treasury Wine Estates, the world’s biggest listed wine company. TWE are custodians of some of the world’s most iconic and award-winning wine brands including Penfolds, Wolf Blass and Beringer.
Michelle has worked at TWE for the over 17 years across a variety of roles, including Chief Financial Officer for Europe and South-East Asia, and most recently she was Commercial Director UK & Ireland. Prior to working in the wine industry Michelle worked in various commercial finance roles for the likes of Sony and Muller Diary.
Brad Madigan is the Managing Director for Campari Group UK, having recently relocated from Australia where he lead the Commercial Function for one of Campari Group’s Largest Business Units. Brad started his career at Unilever before moving to Diageo, where he worked across National On Premise and led the National Independent Channel. Brad was a previous board member of the Australian Drinks Association and the Diversity & Inclusion Council for the Drinks Industry. With over 20 years experience in the FMCG industry, the majority of which have been in alcohol industry, Brad has a strong understanding of the current opportunities and challenges facing the industry globally.
Perpaolo Petrassi MW has worked in the wine & spirit industry for over 30 years. He followed his father into the wine industry in 1983 and having worked in both sales and buying roles for the Carnevale Group (1987-1997), International Wine Services (1997-2003), WaverleyTBS (2003-2007) & Tesco (2007-2010), he became Head of Buying for Beers, Wines & Spirits at Waitrose in 2010. Pierpaolo became a Master of Wine in 2007 and was the first Italian to achieve this qualification. He has been consistently placed in the top 5 of Drinks Retailing News’ most influential people in wine.
Together with our Headline sponsor, JF Hillebrand, we are making the Summit as environmentally friendly as possible. Why? Because the events industry in the UK is responsible for an average of 1.2bn kg of CO2e every year! So although this event is not completely ‘green’, we have made some changes to help reduce our carbon footprint and overall impact on the environment –
Graysons Restaurants are committed to providing seasonal menus, whereby ingredients are sourced locally and nationally endorsing local British suppliers, fair prices, Fairtrade, and ethical sourcing. All products are sustainable and traceable and they only use food packaging that is bio-degradable or recyclable and 100% compostable.
We produce a lot of booklets and in line with WSTA branding, we always have them laminated making them longer wearing and scuff resistant. But this also makes them much harder to recycle. This year’s booklets are uncoated – they might not look as glossy but feel free to
recycle them in the bins provided on the day!
Although we have flown two of our speakers across the ocean, we chose an airline that actively contributes to carbon offsetting and in 2017 their parent group was named the most improved organisation in the UK in carbon reporting. Our speakers will also be taking public
transport as much as possible to reduce the carbon emissions from single passenger vehicle use.
