From 1 February 2025, when the wine easement ends, businesses will need to pay excise duty on wines (11.5%-14.5% ABV) based on their labelled ABV, as per the rules established in August 2023 and updated in Notice 163. It will be important to have an accurate audit trail for correct labelling. Discrepancies beyond allowable tolerances may require relabelling and could lead to additional excise duty or HMRC penalties.
Members have expressed an interest in a workshop to look further into the current requirements and what the process could be going forward.
You will be able to access the full recording and slides using the following link. The link is password protected – the password can be found in the post-event email follow-up.
