Matt Walls specialises in the Rhône, having written the definitive book on the region, Wines of the Rhône. He is also Regional Chair for the Rhône at the Decanter World Wine Awards and regularly contributes to high-profile titles to share his expertise on this region.

For this event, Matt has invited 40 Rhône winemakers to come and pour their wines in person. All are leading estates in their respective appellations, and all 18 Crus of the Rhône Valley will be present – not to mention the best of the Côtes-du-Rhône and satellite AOCs such as Ventoux. You’ll come away with a satisfyingly complete picture of the state of play in the region in 2027.

A further group of producers attending are from estates that excel with classically Rhône varieties from outside France: Australia, California, Washington. South Africa… It’s a chance to compare and contrast Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Viognier, etc. from all over the world to get a feel for how different countries and regions work with and express their land through these increasingly popular grapes.

The majority of producers are available in the UK via importers, but a sizable contingent are looking for new distribution.

Additionally, there’ll be a few concise (40-minute) break-out masterclasses and tastings that bring a range of wines together to see what new perspectives we can glean.
