Masterclass with Thomas Larmoyer of Soil Therapy

Thomas Larmoyer is a young and highly talented self-taught winemaker at the forefront of a revolution in winemaking in Alsace – and his wines are sensational.

Currently making a cult name for himself in the best addresses of Paris, Thomas creates single vineyard Alsace wines unconventionally labelled as lieux dits. He teases out incredibly refined, nuanced and pure expressions of terroir, using a combination of exceptional instinct, field blends of the best organic and biodynamic grapes, and extended elevage – the opposite of the traditional methods of making Alsace AOC wines.

Thomas’ production is tiny and exclusive. Everything he makes is in micro batches, using best quality material and distinctive, time-consuming skill. These are highly original Alsace wines, of incredible energy and mineral tension, delicate aromatics, lace-like in both texture and tannins, and with sensational freshness and length. Quantities are super limited.
In the pursuit of purity, concentration, and the profound expression of terroir, Thomas will only release a wine if it meets his exacting quality standards.
