Join us to taste the sheer brilliance of biodynamic duo, Gonzague & Claire. After his sister became the 1st BD certified GCC of all, Gonzague drove Durfort to be 1st in Margaux, and Claire made HBL the 2nd in Pauillac.
The proof is, as always, in the glass. For her work at HBL & Ferriere, Claire was crowned ‘Vigneron(ne) de L’Année 2024’ by the RVF – of all France. In 2022 when 14%-15% ABVs are common, Durfort is just 12.7%. Their wineries are deep into biodiversity, cover-crop, hedgerows, wildlife corridors: the living side of viticulture. Both make deft use of concrete & terracotta – Durfort alone has some 180 TAVA giarres. Meanwhile prices remain sensible.
The lunch will be hosted by young nephew Armand C Lurton, who grew up at Bouscaut, Graves. In his honour we’ll serve their very rare ‘Expression’ bottlings of pre-phylloxera ungrafted Semillon (planted ~1850), and Malbec (VV planted 1955) from 2015.
