High Altitude Wines from Ribera del Duero
July 12 @ 14:00 - 16:00
TAKE YOUR TASTEBUDS TO NEW HEIGHTS AT THE UK’S HIGHEST PRIVATE DINING ROOM
This July, forty floors above London, Ribera del Duero is hosting an exclusive lunch for members of the wine trade. Join wine aficionado Mike Turner for a pairing of 9 exceptional RIBERA DEL DUERO wines with DUCK & WAFFLE’s playful modern European sharing plates. The session will start with a brief background into the regions terroir, grapes, wine styles and viticultural challenges and techniques, before digging deep into the effects of altitude on the wines and consequential winemaking.
Does increased UV rays effect colour concentration and tannins of the grapes? How does diurnal range affect ripening and acidity levels? What is the effect on winemakers, vines and the resulting product, of cultivating grapes from 800 – 1200 metres above sea level?
This is a very exclusive one-off event, with space for only 15 guests, to taste some of Ribera del Duero’s finest examples of high altitude wines, demonstrating a mosaic of soil types, aspects and old vines.
