Davy’s Burgundy 2018 En Primeur Tasting

Our Fine Wine team were in the Cote d’Or during the last week of October to taste the 2018s from barrel. It was the hottest vintage in Burgundy since 2003, as well as one of the driest ever. However, cooler nights and a high water table during the Summer months have ensured that this is an exceptional vintage and a pleasure to taste young. Ripe red fruit, excellently integrated tannins and a wonderful freshness to the reds, while the whites show beautiful texture, complexity and rich stone fruit – some of the Bourgogne blancs punch well-above their appellation and are a must for the cellar.
We will be showing wines from some of our favourite Producers, including: Domaine Marc Roy, Domaine Joseph Voillot, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet, Domaine Tortochot, Domaine Confuron Gindre and Domaine Drouhin-Laroze in the Côte de Nuits, and Domaine Bachelet-Monnot, Domaine Tollot Beaut, Domaine Michelot and Domaine Paul Pillot from the Côte de Beaune:, as well as Château de Chamilly in the Côtes Chalonnnaise.
With over 30 barrel samples to try, this is a great opportunity to discover the 2018 vintage. Our fine wine team will be on hand to offer expert guidance and advice on how these wines will develop over the next few years.
