Job Description

Founded in 1858, Mentzendorff Ltd is one of the UK’s longest established wine
importers, having represented Bollinger Champagne for over 160 years. Today the company is part of the Bollinger Family Group and jointly owned by the Bollinger Family and The Fladgate Partnership (owners of Taylor’s, Fonseca & Croft Ports) that they exclusively represent alongside many of the world’s finest family-owned wine estates. Mentzendorff is a wine & spirits agency business, managing both sales distribution to all trade channels and brand marketing to the consumer and trade throughout the UK.

Mentzendorff is composed of 42 employees – with half being field-based Sales and half office-based Brand Team, Supply Chain, Customer Services and Finance.

The Role – Brand Manager

As Brand Manager, you will be responsible for all operational aspects of the Agency relationships for your agreed portfolio of wineries, including the achievement of commercial growth targets and the implementation of an ambitious brand marketing programme – this is brand management in its broadest form, encompassing trade & consumer marketing, sales, supply chain and finance.

The role requires strategic planning, project management, commercial analysis,
creative flair and an expert understanding of your category to elevate our brands, drive distribution and strengthen their visibility across all trade channels.

The role requires a high level of drive and organisation and would benefit from a strong commercially minded approach. The ability to multi-task and efficiently manage the demands of both suppliers and the business in a fast paced and dynamic organisation is a must.

You will essentially serve as the guardian of the brands in your portfolio ensuring the strategy, messaging and tone remain consistent across all touchpoints: advertising, social media campaigns, in-store displays and so on.

A brand manager has a diverse range of responsibilities. You might execute marketing campaigns, oversee product design and coordinate product launches. Budget management is crucial, while you’ll often need to work with sales teams, PR agencies and other marketers.

Key Responsibilities

Co-creation of the Annual Sales & Marketing Brand Plan with the Director of Brand Management, focusing on a tailored approach for each of our sales channels driven by volume and distribution KPIs, marketing activations and consumer pull through. These are long-term strategic plans that will deliver for the producer and the business

Full responsibility for implementation of the annual brand plan and marketing
programme, creating and implementing consumer and trade marketing campaigns, managing social media, events, and PR

Brand Guardianship, overseeing brand guidelines, creative assets and ensure
consistent messaging across all channels for your portfolio

Full responsibility for managing your portfolio Marketing AMP budget, reporting and analysis of ROI

Co-responsibility with the Sales Team for achieving volume, distribution and profit targets, timelines and budgets

Monitoring the performance and positioning of the brands through key performance indicators (KPI) and producing monthly and quarterly reports

Analysing brands of competitors, consumer trends to inform strategy

Relationship management is key, as the conduit for all aspects of day-to-day
operational relationship with your portfolio (including sales & logistics) working closely with Director of Brand Management, Heads of Sales, and Commercial Operations Controller

Acting in an ambassadorial role for your portfolio, hosting tastings and events, and being the authoritative voice within the business

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience and Qualifications • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the wine industry • A proven track record in developing and implementing marketing strategies, achieving commercial objectives • CIM Qualifications, desirable • WSET Qualifications, Diploma desirable
